About Hailstorm by Jimmy Pike

Hailstorm by Jimmy Pike celebrates the beauty of the Australian landscape. Born east of Japingka, The Great Sandy Desert, Jimmy grew up as a hunter-gatherer before developing his artistic practice. Jimmy’s work included painting, printmaking, textile design and illustration. Licensing his imagery to Desert Design, Pike became a fashion sensation not only in Australia but also Japan, America and Europe.

In his will, Jimmy provided for a trust to be setup to receive future earning from the application of his designs under licence. The Jimmy Pike Trust continues to provide annual scholarship for Aboriginal artists to attend printmaking workshops. Through the Jimmy Pike Trust, Jimmy’s creative legacy continues to contribute to the rich tapestry of Australian storytelling and traditional art practices.
